Axl is the owner/operator of Axl's Piercing Parlor, a body-piercing and tattoo shop in Lawndale.

Axl has a scruffy appearance, speaks with a lower class British cockney accent, and has a casual regard for hygiene and for the law - in fact, based on his own guide to keeping tongue-piercings clean in The Daria Database, he knows bog all about hygiene. (According to that guide, health insurance companies refuse to cover you if you get injured or ill from using his services). However, in Daria's Inferno, he speaks with an American accent. He is said to have an unnamed apprentice who helps him run the counter while he is occupied with a job, but that apprentice is not there everyday so if someone else comes in during those cases he has to stop what he is doing to see what they want.
He has a good relation with Trent and Monique who appear to be regular customers.
In Pierce Me, Trent takes Daria to his shop after suggesting that she get a piercing while she is helping him shop for a birthday present for Jane. He lets them know of a two for one special he is running, and shoots down Daria's suggestion of piercing her ears as the deal is for one hole each for two people, not two holes in one person. He suggests that she would look nice with a lip ring, then bends to Trent's suggestion that she get a naval ring.
Before he can pierce her, Monique comes in and he gives her some antiseptic stuff for her nose ring. He encounters some difficulties piercing Daria due to her fear of pain, but he gets the job done after Trent holds her hand. He then tells her not to remove the ring for at least six months or it will close up and he'll have to pierce it again. He also tells her how to care for it and not to be alarmed if mucus starts pouring out.
After Trent hears that Daria's piercing closed up by accident, Trent says that the next time they go there they'll get her a tattoo as those last forever.
