Travis is a hitch-hiking country and western singer who appeared during the episode Speedtrapped.

Appearance[]

Travis is very tall and skinny, with blonde hair and light blue eyes. He wore a brown cowboy hat with a blue jacket over a white shirt, and jeans with a large belt buckle. He was seen carrying his guitar on his back and a small suitcase full of clothes.

Personality[]

Travis is shown to have a heavy interest in playing country music even though he has no talent for singing, playing it for everyone he meets regardless of whether or not they want to hear it.

He is aware of his rugged good looks and uses this to convince girls to pick him up and give him rides while hitchhiking. He is very manipulative and lies a lot, telling stories about his life that Daria notes are actually from the TV series Little House on the Prairie. Despite this, he comes across as being very friendly and flirtatious to those that help him out.

He also convinced Quinn to spend the money that she and Daria had brought along to bail Jane and Mystik Spiral out of jail on clothes and give him the rest of the money for a bus ticket home. He was shown to have still been hitchhiking even after getting the money, showing how much he uses others to his own advantage.

Overview[]

Shortly after Quinn took over driving for Daria in Speedtrapped, she saw Travis hitchhiking and pulled over to give him a ride over Daria's protests. He thanked them for giving him a ride and proceeded to play on his guitar for the next two hours.

When Daria was absent, Travis tricked Quinn into giving him the money for a bus ticket home by lovebombing her with clothes. Shortly before heading to bail out Jane, Trent, and Mystik Spiral they dropped him off outside Mad Dawg's for a music audition. By the time they returned to get the money back, he was nowhere to be seen and there was no sign he ever actually did audition.

While Daria and Quinn were driving home, Quinn caught sight of Travis hitchhiking again and began to wave to him, forgetting that she'd been scammed. Daria proceeded to speed up the car and almost ran him over, crushing his guitar and his suitcase.

In Love is a Way Too Many Splendored Thing Quinn said: "He's a hot hitchhiking cowboy. Reminds me of that guy in the movie with the flying car."

In the Definitive Daria flipbooks, Travis opened one containing fake postcards and revealed Daria had destroyed his career: "Howdy! My name's Travis and I've got a cowboy's wanderlust, alright, traveling the highways and byways of America, hitching rides with my lanky, rugged thumb. The open road calls to me, the blue sky watches over me, and ever since my guitar got run over by a shiny ol' Lexus, I've been making ends meet by taking odd jobs like introducing this here collection of mighty amusing postcards. So I'd be powerfully obliged if you'd take a gander, as I get a commission on the click-throughs. Thank you kindly."

He makes a break appearance in the game Daria's Inferno, where he's blocking your and bemoaming " can't sing without a [cowboy] hat". Buy him one ("Get a long little doggie with this cowboy hat. Yee ha.") and he'll give you a pass to The Zon.
