You're Standing On My Neck is the theme song for Daria. It was sung and composed by the band Splendora.
Overview[]
The theme song features a montage starting with Daria Morgendorffer sitting in a movie theater. Everyone else in the audience laughs at a supposedly funny scene, but Daria does not. In gym class, Daria lets a volleyball bounce on the ground instead of hitting it. Stacy Rowe and Tiffany Blum-Deckler glare at her. By the lockers, Daria blows a whistle to get Kevin Thompson and Brittany Taylor to move away from her locker. At a game, while sitting on the bleachers, Daria is the only one not cheering. In gym, Daria once again does not hit the volleyball. At a wedding, Daria is the only one in her family not crying or wearing formal attire, instead shown in her signature everyday outfit. She reads the newspaper, an ad for Sick, Sad World is seen on the back page. In gym both Tiffany and Stacy try to get the volleyball and crash into each other, falling to the floor. Daria looks at both of them and shrugs. There is then an zoom up to her face where she gives a mysterious smile. Daria's face then turns into the title card with the series logo and the episode title underneath it.
Lyrics[]
La la la la la
This is my stop
Got to get off
I might go pop
Excuse me, Excuse me
I've got to be direct
La la la
If I'm off, please correct
La la la
You're standing on my neck
Look right through me
Say I'm gloomy
Well, so sue me
Excuse me, excuse me
I've got to be direct
La la la
Its like a big train wreck
La la la
You're standing on my neck
La la la
You're standing on my neck
La la la
You're standing
Nothing is like I planned it
So funny I can't stand it
Wish I was made of granite
I must be on another planet
La la la la la
La la la la la
This is my stop
I've got to get off
I might go pop
Excuse me, excuse me
I've got to be direct
La la la
If I'm off, please correct
La la la
You're standing on my neck
La la la
You standing on my neck
La la la
You're standing on my neck
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
